Serbia will defend their FIVB Volleyball World League title at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil
Lausanne, Switzerland, March 10, 2017 – Excitement is growing for the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World League Group 1 Finals following the announcement of the venue, Curitiba’s Arena da Baixada football stadium.
The premier annual men’s tournament finals for Group 1 will set another milestone, when the top six teams including hosts Brazil will play in front of 30,000 people from July 4 to 8.
Spectacular is the perfect description for the Arena da Baixada, another iconic venue for volleyball in Brazil.
Gilberto "Giba" Amauri de Godoy Filho, a native of Londrina, a city located in Parana, which is also home to the Arena da Baixada, is excited about the momentous event.
Even the home team of Clube Atletico Paranaense is looking forward to the way in which their football pitch will turn into a stunning centrepiece for volleyball.
After winning the Rio 2016 Olympics gold medal, the Brazilian men’s volleyball team set foot in the Arena da Baixada for a friendly match that ended with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-16) win over Portugal, which also marked the retirement of Brazilian libero Serginho. The home team will once again delight the Arena da Baixada crowd with exciting matches during the World League Group 1 Finals.
