Ngapeth leads France trio in World League Dream Team

 

France's Earvin Ngapeth celebrates after France win World League gold

Lausanne, Switzerland, August 11, 2017 – A trio of French players have been rewarded for their efforts in taking their team to gold at the 2017 FIVB World League by winning places in the tournament Dream Team. 

Captain Benjamin Toniutti, Earvin Ngapeth and Kevin Le Roux were the three chosen players following France’s 3-2 (21-25, 25-15, 25-23, 19-25, 15-13) win over hosts Brazil at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba.


It is France’s second gold medal in three editions. Laurent Tillie’s team also won bronze in 2016. 


Outside-hitter Ngapeth scored 29 points in the gold medal match and was duly named as tournament MVP and one of two best outside hitters, along with Brazil’s Ricardo Lucarelli. 

Team captain Toniutti took the prize for best setter and Le Roux was chosen as one of two middle blockers. Canada’s Graham Vigrass was the other after he had helped his team to bronze.

His teammate Blair Bann was named as best libero and Brazil’s Wallace De Souza completed the team after being selected as best opposite.
