We are not strong yet – France’s coach Tillie

 

France scary Russian young players in their second 2017 WL match.

Kazan, Russia, June 3, 2017 – French coach Laurent Tillie believes in his young players. He said so after his team defeated the hone squad of Russia by 3-1 in a World League game in Kazan on Saturday.

Laurent Tillie, coach of France: “It was a great game - we enjoyed it very much. We had to choose between experienced and young players when we built the team. We believed in young players. We practice every day and work hard. We are not strong yet, but we try to be well skilled.”


Jenia Grebennikov, player of France: “We played well tonight and did our best. It was hard to pull through the Russian block. They turned to be very tall. It was a very important match for our future.”


Sergey Shliapnikov, coach of Russia: “Dmitry Kovalev is injuired and we did not want him to sacrifice and worsen his condition. We gave a chance to Pavel Pankov to get some practice. The team was nervous at the beginning of the match, but after a while we stabilised the game. Without defeats there are no victories.”

Maxim Zhigalov, player of Russia: “We failed to win tonight, because we had little time for practice. It is too early to say anything. We need more experience, but we think we can hope to qualify for the Final Six.”
