Tillie: It's amazing to qualify for the Final Six

France celebrate

Pau, France, June 11, 2017 – France coach Laurent Tillie was happy as his team defeated USA 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 25-20, 25-21) to secure the spot in the Final Six of the FIVB World League 2017.

France coach Laurent Tillie: It was really tough. They put pressure on service and block but we managed to adapt positions and players. Rossard and Chinenyeze made a good game. It is important that all the players can play. Now we are qualified. It’s amazing because it is the third participation in three years! Earvin Ngapeth comes back with us for Antwerp even if he’s still recovering. But we need to prepare him for Curitiba.

USA captain Kawika Shoji: It is a very positive for week-end for us. We won two games, we got better as a team. Unfortunately France were better tonight. They served the ball very very well, they had the help of the home crowd, congratulations to them. We are improving and I am looking forward to playing and getting some wins in Poland next weekend.

USA coach John Speraw: I am happy with the way we competed but France is the best team we have played so far. It is a great experience for us to play here. The crowd was wonderful. We improve and will continue our growth as we move forward.
