This is a tremendous achievement - says USA coach

Łódź, Poland, June 18, 2017 - USA prolonged their chances of progressing to Curitiba's Final Six, after claiming victory over Poland 3-1 (29-31, 25-17, 27-25, 25-20).

USA coach, John Speraw: We obviously had a challenging tournament, reflecting to the last three weeks. We have new players for whom it was the very first experience in the national team. It is a tremendous achievement to have a chance to play in the Final Six, because we started with three losses. As Kawika mentioned, it was a tough time, we had some injuries, we needed to change the roster completely, so I am very proud of this victory.

USA captain, Kawika Shoji: I am really proud of the way our team played tonight. It is always tough to play against Poland on their ground. We have many young players, some injuries, but we found a way to win. We have the team spirit, we are always together as a team and that is the key to success.

Poland coach, Ferdinando De Giorgi: Congratulations to team USA, who have a real chance to play in Brazil in the Finals. We cannot blame anyone for what happened tonight. We had our chances in all of the matches we played and a lot of them we did not use. Today we had a problem particularly with the attack. If this element do not work properly, the game become very tough. As a coach I need to look at my team through the things we can improve and change to play better volleyball.

Poland captain, Michał Kubiak: Congratulations to the USA team. They played better than us. We wish them luck if they advance to the Final Six. For us now it is only work, work and work.
