Julien Lyneel and Stephen Boyer serve straight set opener for team France

 

Kazan, Russia, June 2, 2017 - Julien Lyneel leads France in successful World League opener against Bulgaria. Title holders from 2015 defeated Bulgaria 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-22).

Julien Lyneel was the best scorer among his teammates, with 11 points. France’s rookie Stephen Boyer recorded 9 points. On Bulgaria’s side opposite Tsvetan Sokolov matched Lyneel, scoring 11 points, while wing spiker Nikolay Penchev won 6 points. Kevin Le Roux and Nikolay Nikolov howed their blocking skills, scoring 4 points in that element. 


France jumped out for a 5-2 lead in the early stages of the opening set as Kevin Le Roux rattled off with powerful hits. In spite of some errors Bulgaria could find the rhythm to cut down the gap 14-13 and finally level the score. Laurent Tillie’s team kept the pace with strong performance and eventually they grabbed the set 25-23.


They remained to dominate in the second rapidly building to an 8-5 advantage by the first technical timeout. Excellent attack by France helped them to secure a comfortable lead and hold the control of the set 25-15.



Bulgaria regained their focus and convincingly kept the tempo to go one point ahead in the early third set. Tsvetan Sokolov fired up from the right wing, but the score was still tight 10-11. The lead changed around regularly until a moment of distraction on the Bulgarian side happened. France got back on track at 20-18. Bulgaria could not deal with Le Roux and company tonight giving in the match 25-22.
